Step 1. Removing date stamps from photos using the clone tool. Depending on the area, select the appropriate fuzzy brush (medium usually works fine). Place the cursor near any area adjacent to the section of the date you are going to remove. Then press ALT to sample the pixels under the cursor. Now move the cursor over the (yellow) date stamp and click. The trick is to not to do too many samples from the same area at the same time . Stay within the selected area to allow for the correct lighting and shading. This prevents it from looking like a patch job.
Step 2. Sample from different areas using different size brushes. Pay close attention to the flow of the lines and wood grains. Smooth out any oddities so it blends well. A lot of things like dirt, trees, houses, and clouds, can be cloned quite easily with some practice. Sky gradients however, can be quite difficult. Often photographers take the option to cut out the sky from another photo and drop it into your photo. Pay close attention when doing this to match the lighting.
Edited photo. Practice makes perfect. You can use the same technique to remove almost any unwanted objects from a photo.
