Tropical Storm Noel at Lawrencetown Beach : November 03,2007. Tropical Storm Noel reached the shores of Nova Scotia. View the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2uqFnjXmgI There are two videos taken at 4pm. We had to leave shortly after because the wind and rains were too strong. The waves were crashing in at 10m and that wasn't even at the heaviest part of the storm. Here the winds were only at about 50 km/hr. At about 3 am the winds reached 139 km/hr. Residents on the shoreline were advised to go inland and the harbour front was evacuated because the levels in the harbour dropped 5 ft. An exciting night indeed and nobody got much sleep after 3am. We're ok this morning though :)

Fog : When you live on the coast of the North Atlantic, expect fog. For some fog is depressing, but we love it. We find it mysterious and eerie but still beautiful. Fog has a way of disorienting everything around it and making people feel their immediate aura. :)

Peggys Cove Storm - November 2006 : There's nothing quite as dramatic as a storm on the North Atlantic Ocean. On the evening of November 14, 2006, there was a great one at Peggy's Cove. Waves reaching heights of 40 ft. were crashing against the glacial rocks in thunderous roars. The sea spray from the waves reached another 10 to 20 ft. above the waves - especially when 2 or more waves crested together. To get an idea of the scale, look at the size of these massive rock boulders here: http://banjon.smugmug.com/gallery/3031560#164849404

The sound of the high winds and crashing waves was so deafening that we couldn't hear one another, even when yelling. We could not take more photographs because the winds were getting stronger and stronger and it was just too dangerous to stay on the rocks.
