banjon > Day 333 - The Freezing Thaw

Between the freezing rain and very thick fog with temps hitting around 8C/48F, the water saturated everything including the ice in the coves and lakes leaving these strips of water across the ice allowing for some awesome reflections.

By the way, the temp dropped to -13C/5F in only a few short hours. Mother Nature messing (trying to keep it clean here) with our heads. :)

I recommend you view it full screen (I put it as my desktop). I love the depth to it.

banjon > Day 332 - Mystic Reflection

The water had a near stillness, only a very slight current, which made the reflection look like a fresco painting.
Plus I loved the color of the sky and partial trunk reflections.

banjon > Day 331 - Yellow Lichen Rock

I really like the different colors lichen found throughout the year. Under the right lighting conditions, the lichen seem to glow.

banjon > Day 330 - Kearney Lake

A stroll by lake today, snow was about 2 feet deep (or more) in some areas. I only stayed near the main path until I saw the felled trees by Mr. Beaver. :)

banjon > Day 328 - Natural Stack

A stack of CDRs back lit by the sun.
Notice the edging caused by the injection molding as the etched aluminum disc is sandwiched together by two plastic discs.
Since CDR's are write once, a layer of dye is added to the active side of the aluminum so it will respond to the frequency wave length of the LED laser (red or green). Blue Ray discs use the blue or indigo LED laser. Lower the frequency, the more data can be packed closer together.

banjon > Day 327 - Good to the last...

Well this ain't Foldgers.. Its "Just Us!" Fair Trade Coffee - Jungle Blend. Fresh ground beans and a French Press method :) GOOD stuff!
Try it once, and you'll know what you've been missing (if you like coffee that is).

banjon > Day 326 - Icy Window Pane

During the snow and ice storm, zero visibility at times, the windows were being covered up with snow at first, then to ice as it changed to freezing rain. Even the birds that weathered the storm, found it difficult to fly at times due to the very strong wind gusts. They were happy to grab a few seeds and head into the woods.

Normally we don't see that kind of snow stuck to window panes during a storm. This was great to watch as different patterns appear in the ice and snow.

I set the white balance to fluorescent to get the blue tone.

banjon > Day 325- Falling Light

Decided to try a few different angles photographing a DVD.
This is a single DVD as taken straight from the camera. (minimal editing - mostly contrast balance)

I used tilting motions, slow zooming, and a rapid firing flash for 40 pulses a second.
I also used a polarizer to help with the light and reflections. Added some reflective surfaces to help bounce the light.

Best viewed at X3 and in a dark room. You'll see the light shades of orchid and reds. B)
