banjon > Day 323 - Sunset Marsh Its a photo of a painting I did a few years ago. I have Barb to thank for introducing me to watercolors and oils. Prior to that I only dabbled with ebony pencils and pastels. I would really like to pick up painting again one day. I really like the blending of colors. Using the fill flash has really brought out the colors in this work. It reminds me of the sunsets seen in many of coves in Nova Scotia. Feb 16 2009
banjon > Day 322 - Lamp Light Trying different types of lighting. Using my flash above the shade with orange filter to simulate the lamp light. The lamp is not plugged in and does not use any bulb. The background lighting used an incandescent light to give the darker orange cast. Feb 15 2009
banjon > Day 321 - Incandescent Blue Funny how the final selection or setup comes about. Often times it's one little spec that catches your eye. After trying different angles and lighting, the "what if" always tries to get the last word in. The shiny brass got my attention, then it was trial and error after that. The setup used the computer case for a third time (3rd times a charm). :) Lighting consisted of a halogen light in back, the flash set to 50mm zoom and 1/64 power, then to stop the light from going everywhere, I thought about a homemade snoot. This helped direct the light at the bottom of the hanging bulb. Oh, I forgot to mention this picture was flipped with the bulb suspended by the brass screw using dental floss (I cloned that out) draped through a small rod on top of the computer case. I never used a snoot before - I remembered a few fellow photographers talking about it one time. So when I needed it to only illuminate the light bulb, I quickly searched for something that would work. Hope you like. :) Feb 14 2009

banjon > Day 319 - Case Reflections Computer Case II - another case I had laying around. I saw these clips and notice the case had shielding that would reflect. So I side lit the case and added a few objects to cast color. Add water drops with a spray bottle. I shot the flash through a blue plastic fan casing to help cast the blue tone. Feb 12 2009
banjon > Day 318 - Dispense I always liked the different shapes of oil and vinegar dispensers. Its hard to find the old curvy wide bottom ones. I raised the dispenser on top of a glass panel (from some frames) and then placed the flash underneath it banking off a white foam board. Feb 11 2009
banjon > Day 317 - Red and White Scallop I was looking for my next victim, I mean subject for the daily's. I tried a few things, when a little scalloped trash bin caught my eye. I tried a few things with the flash inside the bin. Then I started experimenting with diffferent colored objects to see what would bank the light nicely. I found a blue piece of plastic that gave off a nice powder blue color. Then I found some red tissue paper laying around from Christmas (hehe). It took me several attempts to get the paper just right to work with the fill flash. I really like the colors and lines. I had a few other ideas I'd like to try. I think they would come out nice. banjon > Day 316 - Separate Ways Having some fun with the pulsating shower head. One of my favorites experiments to try is water in motion. Something about the randomness I really like. You never know what you'll get. Feb 09 2009
