banjon > Day 364 - Glass

Trying a different bounce method. I really like what it did to the glass.

banjon > Day 363 - Descending into the lair of the Unknown

I was taking photos of this crystal candle glass when this idea of shining the LED red laser onto it's rims and outer edges. I set a longer exposure to pickup the color from the laser pen. When I saw this image, it instantly reminded me of a video game where the player descends through an opening into a lair of some huge beast (aka dragon) :)

banjon > Day 362 - Lemonata

The only soft drink I like to treat myself to every now and then.

Setup: Blue dishpan behind the bottle, fill the bottle with water then use a pitcher to pour into the spout. Make sure the pitcher is white or clear, it will cast colors. Its in an aluminum sink, so that adds as a foil reflector on all three sides and bottom. Out cabinets and backsplash are white, so I bounce the flash off the backsplash and underside of the cabinets to add light from above. I use a 1/8 flash setting and position the flash about the start of the dish pan - just beyond the edge (towards the back splash), this way the flash wont light the dish pan but will bounce the light very well. You won't get any glare either, but you never know what water droplets will reflect. Keep a towel handy for around the sink, yourself, and any spray back onto the lens (it happens, so don't get too close). Then take about 200 photos. :)

banjon > Day 361 - Red Cord

Experiment with shiny cording. The lighting angles really brought out the lines of the cording.

Setup: silver shiny cording, halogen lighting from the right, flash on the left with red tissue paper.

banjon > Day 360 - Blue Comb

I liked the colors of the old comb.

setup: Incandescent lighting on back wall, flash directed upward.

banjon > Day 359 - An Old Childhood Friend

Melanie came across this chair at an antique shop a few years back. The child's chair is very old, very sturdy, and very well built, yet its weighs almost nothing. The craftsmanship of today, just can't compare. Amazing.

banjon > Day 358 - Pineapple Daisy

Took some photos of a pineapple today. I like all the different shades of yellow.

In other news, most of the snow had nearly melted today,
so Old Man Winter quickly stirred up a fresh new batch.
yaaaa more snow! (can you feel the sarcasm)

I tried serenading Barb with "It's beginning to look a lot like ..." to which I received her trademarked 'look'.
So that ended that. :)

The orange center is caused by side lighting the pineapple - it causes an orange glow inside the pineapple core. I then bounced that light onto a white board to highlight the top of the pineapple. The camera was positioned directly above the pineapple.

banjon > Day 357 - Sparkling Ice

As the sun was about to set, I noticed a few remaining patches of ice slowly melting in the warm temps and the droplets of water were refracting light. So as I was getting closer to the window, I thought it might look neat through the mesh screens. I remember a few months ago how the screens can pixelate the sunlight at the right angle. When I looked through the view finder, I didn't expect this! Hundreds or more tiny little star bursts, all different colors. The closer you look the more star bursts you see. The effect reminded me of looking at something in deep outer space.

banjon > Day 356 - Glass Bell

Trying some more dark room photos.

I bounced the flash off a white pillow. Love how the quilt responded with a lovely red.

For those interested, the door photo on day 354 was a flash placed low behind the door, back a few feet or so, with green tissue paper covering the flash. Barb thought I was nuts lying on the floor photographing a door. hehe She didn't see the green illuminations. :)
